Carolyn Wade

Carolyn Wade is a historical researcher and writer based in Williams, Arizona. She specializes in the social and economic history of rural Arizona, with particular attention to the communities affected by the Interstate Highway System’s displacement of historic Route 66.

Her coverage for Seligman Commercial Historic District focuses on the deeper historical record: the pre-highway history of the region, the preservation movement’s origins, and the people and families whose stories make up the long continuity of Route 66.

Carolyn holds a graduate degree in American Studies and has conducted archival research at institutions across the Southwest.
